One of five known "Bridge Dies" which struck both 1859/8 and Narrow 9 cents. This die was used first on 1859/8 Cents, then with the E2 narrow 9 reverse. Turner calls this die OG2 in his books.
Look for slight repunches in CANADA as well as the N. Two die cracks above VICTORIA, and a die crack at REGINA are helpful markers. So far this die has been observed in two states. There is likely an earlier state lacking any cracks or clash marks. |

The first crack to the V branches and touches both limbs of the letter, but the second (larger) crack is a straight, radial crack touching only the left hand limb.
